Dr. Mary F. Barbe graduated with my PhD in Anatomy from Wake Forest University, Bowman Gray School of Medicine, Winston Salem, NC in 1987. She then completed a three year postdoctoral fellowship under Dr. Pat Levitt at Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Her main research focus is on: 1) the effect of repetition and force on musculoskeletal and neural systems, and their interaction in a unique rat model of work-related musculoskeletal disorder (also known as repetitive strain injury) with neurological dysfunction that matches that of carpal tunnel syndrome; and 2) examining tissue and cellular responses after spinal root/cord injury.
