Transient Tachypnea of the New born May Be the First Presentation of A topic March

Thisstudywasconductedtodeterminewhetherthebeginningofatopicmarchisrelatedtotransienttachypnea ofthenewborn(TTN).Seventy-eightterminfantsweretreatedinthenewbornIntensiveCareUnitduetoTTN.Acase-matched control group of 78 term newborns without any health problem was selected. Results: There were no statistically significant differencesbetweengroupsintermsofdemographicandclinicalcharacteristics.Therateofchildhoodasthmaandatopicdermatitis amongpatientswithadiagnosisofTTNwasfoundtobehigherthanthecontrols(oddsratio[OR]=5.87,95%confidenceinterval [CI]=2.88–11.98, P<0.01;OR=2.87,95%CI=1.30–6.37, P<0.05,respectively). Conclusion:ThisstudyshowedthatTTNmay bethefirstpresentationofatopicmarchandlarge-scalestudiesshouldbeperformedtoelucidatethispossiblerelation.
