I was born in Yerevan, Armenia, studied Biochemistry and Immunology at The Yerevan State University (BC, MSc). Then I moved to Orbeli Institute of Physiology where received my PhD degree for series of novel studies in a field of monoaminergic inputs into deep cerebellar nuclei conducted in vivo as well as on brain slices. After immigration to Israel I began my postdoc fellowship at the Department of Neurobiology of The Weizmann Institute studying intracellular calcium stores and neuronal plasticity in the group of Prof. Menahem Segal. After mini-sabbatical at The Leibniz Institute in Germany I became a member of Department of Neurobiology at The Weizmann. My current studies are focused on molecular mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and the role of microstructures in dendritic spine functioning and formation.
