Dr. Ling Xia is Professor of Department of Biomedical Engineering at Zhejiang University, China. He received his PhD from Zhejiang University in 1996. Dr. Xia is the Vice Director of the Institute of Biomedical Engineering of Zhejiang University, and also the Vice Director of the Key Laboratory of Biomedical Engineering, Ministry of Education of China. He constructed China's first heart model with realistic geometry and anatomy. Based on his heart model, Dr. Xia has done numerous theoretical investigations on the heart diseases such as conduction blocks, ischemia or myocardial infarcts, Brugada syndrome, heart failure, atrial and ventricular fibrillation, etc. His main research interest is multi-scale heart modeling and simulation. He has published more than 80 papers in journals and more conference papers in the field. Dr. Xia was awarded “100 Excellent Doctoral Dissertations in China” in 1999 and was supported by the Program for New Century Excellent Talents in China in 2004.
