Dr Castaldo is an Assistant Professor at the University of Naples Federico II. She earned her medical degree at Federico II School of Medicine and Surgery, and she completed her medical and clinical training at Cardarelli Hospital and her residency in Sports Medicine at Federico II University Hospital. She conducted postdoctoral research at the Cardiovascular Institute of the New York Medical College. In 2005, she joined the Faculty at the University of Naples Federico II.
Since her postdoctoral training, Dr Castaldo has spent much of her career working on cardiac stem cells and exploring their potential in regenerative medicine. In more recent years, she has focused on the origin of human cardiac stem cells and the influence of myocardial microenvironment signaling on cardiac stem cell biology. Dr Castaldo delivers clinically-oriented human anatomy courses and conducts laboratory classes at a leadership level.
