Graduated (BSc Agri.) from UAS Bangalore (Dharwad campus) with distinction in 1973. Obtained MSc Agri. Agronomy in 1975 from G B Pant University of Agriculture & Technology with second rank. Passed ARS of ICAR in the first batch (1976) with fifth rank and joined Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (CRIDA), Hyderabad in 1976 as Scientist. Completed PhD in Agronomy from UAS, Dharwad with First rank in 1992. Honoured with Gold medal by UAS, Dharwad in 1993. Honoured with Jawaharlal Nehru Award for Outstanding Post-Graduate Research in Agriculture-1993 by ICAR. Working on various aspects of dryland Agronomy, viz., Weed Control, nutrient management, silvi-pasture systems, agroforestry, alternate land use systems, conservation agriculture and natural resource management. Heading Division of Natural Resource Management (NRM) of CRIDA since 2003. Visited Colorado, US in 1986 to participate in International Course on Agroforestry; Gainesville US in 1986-87 for Project work on “Biomass Production in Pine based Agroforestry system”; Oxford Forestry Institute, UK in 1987; Australia in 1997 for study Tour on “Tools & Indicators for sustainable soil management”; participated in UNCCD's Asia-Africa Forum Meet on “Combating Desertification” at Benin in June 2003; and in International Symposium on “Sustainable Dryland Agriculture System” in December 2003 at Niger.
