Dr. Roberto De Santis was born in Naples, Italy, in 1966. He received the mechanical engineering degree in 1994, the PhD in Biotechnology of Dental Materials in 1998 and the Master in Biomaterials in 1999. He is Researcher at the Institute of Composite and Biomedical Materials (IMCB) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR) from 2001. He is adjunct professor of Science and Technology of Dental Materials at the School of Dentistry, University of Naples “Federico II” from 2002. He is the inventor of six patents and one trademark. He is the author of more than 60 articles on international journals, more than 25 book chapters, and more than 20 articles on national journals. He received the award from the CNR in 2009 for the high quality research carried out over the past 5 years. He is a member of the council board of the Italian Society of Biomaterials and of the Italian Society of Biomechanics in Orthopedics and Traumatology.
