João Borges da Costa was born in 1977. He has been graduated in Medicine at the University Nova de Lisboa, Portugal, in October 2001. He achieved the PhD title in Medical Microbiology from the same university in 2009, with a thesis on Chlamydia trachomatis genital infection on adolescents.
Since 2009, he has been a research scientist and lecturer of Medical Microbiology at the Instituto de Higiene e Medicina Tropical, Lisboa, Portugal. He also runs since that year the dermatology outpatients clinics of immunosuppression (HIV and transplanted patients) and Venereology at Hospital de Santa Maria, Lisboa, Portugal.
Since 2012, he has been a research scientist at Dermatology Research Unit and lecturer of Dermatology and Venereology at Faculdade de Medicina de Lisboa, Portugal. His main scientific interests are infectious diseases, especially skin, tropical infections and sexually transmitted infections as well as skin diseases in organ recipient patients. He is author of about 20 papers in peer review international journals and over 40 posters and communications in international conferences.
