Francesco Baino obtained his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Technology in 2010 and since then he joined as a post-doc research fellow the Applied Science and Technology Department at Politecnico di Torino, Italy. Since 2011 he is a lecturer of Materials Science courses at the same university.
Dr. Baino’s academic and research interests are mainly focused on the design, study and testing of biomaterials for tissue engineering applications and regenerative medicine, including the development of bioceramic, bioglass and bioglass/polymer composite scaffolds for hard-tissue regeneration, bioactive glass and glass-ceramic coatings on prosthetic devices to promote osteointegration, hierarchical systems with multiscale porosity for controlled drug release applications and innovative ocular devices with antibacterial properties.
He is author of about 80 publications, including more than 30 peer-reviewed articles, about 40 contributions in conference proceedings, 3 patents, 2 book chapters and 1 book. He also serves as a referee for a lot of international journals, including Acta Biomaterialia, Journal of Materials Research, Materials Science and Engineering C, Composite Part A: Applied Science and Manufacturing, Journal of Biomechanics, Journal of Biomaterials Applications, European Cells and Materials Journal, Materials Letters, Journal of Materials Chemistry B, Applied Surface Science.
Since 2012 he is member of the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Materials Science and Applications (Science Publisher Group).
